How to Structure a Calisthenics Program

Effective calisthenics programs balance skill work, strength training, and recovery. Skill work (front lever, planche holds) is best done fresh at the start of sessions. Strength work (weighted pull-ups, dips, rows) builds the foundation. Most athletes benefit from 3-5 training days per week with adequate rest between similar movement patterns.

Progressive Overload in Calisthenics

Unlike weight training where you add plates, calisthenics progression comes from leverage changes (tuck to straddle), range of motion increases, tempo manipulation, and added external load. A good program systematically progresses these variables while managing fatigue and preventing overuse injuries.
